The New York Jets defensive end Shaun Ellis had a hand surgery last Tuesday to insert screw into his broken left hand. And the Pro Bowl defensive end expects that he could take part in the team’s offseason workouts in time.
Ellis injured his hand while playing in the 17-14 playoff win over the San Diego Chargers but still put on his Jets jersey to play the AFC championship game against the Indianapolis Colts and managed to play in the Pro Bowl game. The surgery was done just two days after the Pro Bowl.
Ellis also has some problem on his knee, which had arthroscopic surgery last season but occasionally swells during the 2009 season. As the knee could take a good rest during the four to six weeks that is needed to heal the hand, Ellis said he would not need any medical procedures on the knee.

Jets Coach Ryan pays $50,000 for inappropriate gesture
The New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan was smiling while making the gesture of flipping his middle finger at a fan during a mixed martial arts event, but now it becomes hard for him to smile anymore as $50,000 will be taken from his pocket to console those who were angered by Ryan’s gesture.
It remains unclear who caught the scene with a cell phone camera, but I guess he did it on purpose and let the picture spread across the internet. Whatever, he could have been satisfied with the result- the Jets fined Ryan $50,000 and the league may also show Ryan the bill calling the gesture violating its personal conduct policy, just as they fined Tennessee Titans owner Bud Adams $250,000 for making an obscene gesture to fans during a game in November.
Anyway, paying so much and Ryan should have learned how to control his mouth and hands. Saying the Jets should be the favorite to win the Super Bowl when the playoffs began, however, Ryan led his team to a loss to the Indianapolis Colts; telling those in love with Miami Dolphins jerseys that the Jets would beat the team twice in 2009 season, Ryan had his team be beaten by the Dolphins in both meetings this season.

Jets LB Harris may be unavailable for playoff with ankle injury
It remains uncertain whether the New York Jets linebacker David Harris will put on his Jets jersey to play the team’s wild-card playoff games against the Cincinnati Bengals this Saturday, and a sprained right ankle still bothers him.
Harries injured his ankle the first half of last Sunday’s 37-0 victory the Bengals, and Ryan Fowler took over his job at the inside linebacker, finishing the game despite taking a blow to the head at some point. His status for the playoff also remains unclear.
“I’m definitely concerned, absolutely,” Coach Rex Ryan said of Harris’ injury. “I know if there’s any way possible to play, he’s going to play. We’ll see how he is. Do I expect him to be a full go (Tuesday) for practice? No, I don’t, but hopefully he’ll surprise me.”
Harris leads the team in tackles and has 5 1/2 sacks and two interceptions, and if he cannot play the playoff, it would be a huge blow to the Jets’ top-ranked defense. Kenwin Cummings would be the top choice to start at inside linebacker if both Harris and Fowler would be absent.

Jets players were woken up by fire alarm mid-night before playing against Patriots
It remains mysterious who pulled fire alarm in the hotel where the players who wear New York Jets jerseys slept before playing against the New England Patriots, but he/she must have been satisfied now as the Jets lost Sunday’s game against the Patriots 14-31.
There’s no proof that a Patriots fan is responsible for the incident, but the New England is beginning to build a reputation as the center for fan pranks, because it was not the first time similar things happened. It was said that the Bills were also woken up by the alarm the night before they played against the Patriots in Week 1.
Some Jets players complained about the incident. Safety Kerry Rhodes expressed his unhappiness through Twitter: "You know we are playing New England when in the middle of the night when you are asleep somebody pulls a fire alarm to wake u up!! wow!!"

Jets WR Edwards not to be suspended for alleged assault
After the New York Jets wide receiver Braylon Edwards was charged with misdemeanor on Monday for allegedly assaulting a friend of LeBron James, he did not seem to have to face suspension from the league.
According to reports, the fact that he has no prior history is helping Edwards stay clear of any league suspension. The Jets have announced earlier that they were aware of the allegation even before the team traded for him with the Cleveland Browns. In fact they did a background check and talked to both law-enforcement folks and league security about Edwards before making the deal.
What the Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum told the paper was that the "risk was manageable" the team made the final decision to acquired Edwards. And the receiver’s on-field performance did not disappoint the team as he has become the best receiver against Jets starting quarterback Mark Sanchez.

Jets NT Jenkins was placed on season-ending injured reserve
The New York Jets will play the remainder of the season without the big nose tackle, Kris Jenkins, who was placed on season-ending injured reserve Monday with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.
“That’s hard,” Jets Coach Rex Ryan said of the huge loss for one of the league’s top-ranked defenses. “It’s going to be hard to replace Kris. There’s not many Kris Jenkins playing in this league. Obviously, his impact is going to be felt.”
The four-time Pro Bowl selection was injured while making a tackle in the second quarter of the Jets’ 16-13 overtime loss to Buffalo on Sunday. The tackle now has to walk on crutches with his leg heavily wrapped and feels frustrated for not being able to play with his team. It was just his second season wearing the Jets jersey and he really hopes that he would be ready for the start of the team’s offseason conditioning programs.

A man was stabbed while trying to buy Dolphins-Jets ticket
Sometimes, buying a ticket for your favorite team’s game may be dangerous. 24-year old John Langsett’s terrible experience told fans how import it is to keep calm whenever and wherever.
Miami Gardens police spokesman Bill Bamford said Tuesday that Langsett was stabbed while trying to buy a ticket to the Miami Dolphins-New York Jets game Monday night. It happened outside Land Shark Stadium after the young man had an argument with 51-year-old Hamin Basim Ansar on a ticket sale.
According to police, Ansar pulled out a pocket knife and stabbed Langsett in the chest and back of the head following the argument. He was arrested and charged with attempted second-degree murder, and is now being held at a jail without set bond.

Talented WR Edwards was traded to Jets after Browns lost to Bengals
On Wednesday morning, wide receiver Braylon Edwards was about to put on his practice cleveland browns jersey as usual, but a call from coach Eric Mangini told him that he is going to wear another team’s Jersey since on.
Mangini told him that he was traded to the New York Jets. Afterwards, the talented but troubled wide receiver flied to New York and showed up at the Jets’ facility shortly after practice ended, and tried on his new green and white threads jets jersey, and was included in the team picture.
“It was interesting getting off a plane and rushing right to a team photo,” Edwards said, smiling. “The guys in the locker room were good.”
The deal cost the Jets wide receiver Chansi Stuckey, linebacker Jason Trusnik and two undisclosed draft choices. Edwards has 10 receptions for 139 yards but was shut out for the first time in his career in the winless Browns’ 23-20 overtime loss to Cincinnati on Sunday. But to Jets, Edwards will help jumpstart the running game and become the legitimate deep threat for Mark Sanchez to throw to opposite Jerricho Cotchery. The Jets has decided to have Edwards start Monday’s game against the Dolphins at Miami.

Jets WR Clowney was benched for tweeting complaints
After a 16-9 victory over the New England Patriots, the New York Jets wide receiver David Clowney should not have complained about his playing time on his Twitter page, if he knew such personal saying would be considered as detriments to the team and a reason for benching him. He did not know, so he was benched by the Jets Coach Rex Ryan for the game against the Tennessee Titans.
What Clowney did was just to tweet a few hours after beating the Patriots last Sunday: “1 play in the 1st Half, 4 plays in the 2nd half … A bit disappointed about my playing time but very happy and satisfied about the win.” He added in a subsequent tweet that, “My team always comes first so I’ma just keep grinding.”
